An Act of Caring is an instructional institution that provides information, teaching and a learning environment to help students gain knowledge in preparation for the Utah Certified Nursing Assistant State Testing and/or the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid testing. CNA Work and Text books as well as clinical equipment and settings are provided for hands on experience.
Utah Certified Nursing Assistant Program:
Requirements for Utah CNA Student:
- UT CNA student will provide proof of high school diploma, GED certificate and being beyond the age of compulsory high school attendance, as prescribed by Utah law. (Rule 152-34-4(3) of the Utah Administrative Code.)
- UT CNA student will provide proof of negative or inactive T.B. test results in the last six months.
- UT CNA student will provide $50.00 to reserve place in class and is non-refundable.
- UT CNA student will provide $350.00 by the start of the first day of class.
- UT CNA student will sign in and attend all classes. Changes may be made in the event of federal or state holiday. CNA student will notify instructor and arrange for make-up hours on an individual basis and circumstance. No-Call, No-Show for class time will result in termination of course without refund.
- UT CNA student will have passing score of 75% or greater on written exams. Failure to do so will result in verbal and/or written counseling and termination of program as stated below.
- UT CNA student may withdraw by the end of scheduled class time (request must be in writing) on the third day and receive 50% ($175.00) refund of tuition, by the end of class time on the fifth day and receive 25% ($87.50) refund of tuition, no other refund will be given. If student is retaking class refunds will be 50% ($150.00) by end of class time on third day, 25% ($75.00) by the end of class time on the fifth day, no other refund will be given.
- UT CNA student will provide check or money order on final day of class written to Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) in the amount of $70.00 (subject to change by state) for Utah CNA competency written and skills testing. Testing may be redone a maximum of three times at which time class must be repeated. Payment is due prior to receiving authorization to retest ($35.00 for written and/or $35.00 for skills, subject to change by state).
- UT CNA student will notify An Act of Caring, in writing, of cancellation of scheduled class by midnight of the third business day commencing with the day this agreement is signed, at which time, student will receive a full refund in the amount of $400.00.
CNA Refresher Program:
-Cost $100.00 -(includes four 8 hour sessions of hands on care, instruction, testing and text book)
Healthcare Provider CPR Program:
Requirements for Healthcare Provider CPR Student:
-will provide $10.00 to reserve place in class.
-will provide $30.00 (for initial certification) or $25.00 (for recertification) at the start of scheduled class.
-will sign in and attend scheduled class. If unable to attend student will notify instructor and arrange for make-up hours on an individual basis and circumstance.
-will successfully complete written (score 85% or greater) and skills testing (pass off skills in order as per skills sheet) at the completion of course.
Heart Saver American Heart Association First Aid Program:
-will provide $10.00 to reserve place in class.
-will provide $20.00 for initial or $15.00 for renewal at the start class.
-will sign in and attend scheduled class. If unable to attend student will notify instructor and arrange for make-up hours on an individual basis and circumstance.
-will successfully complete written testing with a score 85% or greater at the completion of the course.

An Act of Caring
An Act of Caring agrees to provide to the Utah CNA student:
-will provide at least 80 hours of Utah CNA instruction, combination of in class and clinical (to include 16 hours of communication and interpersonal skills, infection control, including AIDS, safety and ER procedures, promoting residents independence, respecting resident rights, and basic nursing skills), per Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR).
-will provide for the CNA a syllabus of scheduled classes and activities.
-will provide CNA and textbook, Lippincott’s Essentials for Nursing Assistants, A Humanistic Approach to Caregiving by Pamela J. Carter.
-will provide for the CNA all equipment and supplies necessary to teach and instruct all areas of nursing care as per syllabus and Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR).
-will provide a nursing care facility for hands on care of patients to practice and reinforce skills taught in the classroom. CNA student will be dropped from class if patient is emotionally or physically abused without refund of tuition. Investigation into allegations will be done in conjunction with the nursing care facility administrative staff, An Act of Caring representative and statements of events from the CNA student.
-will provide competency testing from a pool of questions periodically during the Utah CNA course, provided in writing or verbally (in the case of individuals with limited literacy in English) (refer to syllabus) in preparation for the Utah State competency test. CNA student will receive verbal counseling with 1st test result of 74% or less, written counseling with 2nd test result of 74% or less, and dropped from class with 3rd test result of 74% or less, without any refund of tuition. This statement does not include or relate to the final written examination.
-will allow retake of class on individual basis after interview and at the discretion of owner, Cherie’ Ward, and CNA student will follow the same admission process. A discount of $50.00 will be assessed on the tuition fee of $400.00 due by the start of first day of class ($300.00). A non-refundable reservation fee of $50.00 will still be required.
-will provide skills testing from a pool of tasks instructed and taught in class or clinical setting (refer to syllabus) in preparation for the Utah State skills test.
-will submit, with CNA student payment of $70.00, Utah Nursing Assistant registry (UNAR) documentation at completion of Utah CNA course for testing vouchers required for written and skills testing, upon successful completion of Utah CNA course (score of 75% or greater on written final and successful completion of 5 skills during skills testing).
-will award a Utah CNA Certificate of Completion to students after successful completion (as previously stated) of Utah Certified Nursing Assistant Program
-will provide Healthcare Provider CPR Certification cards, from the American Heart Association, for the successful completion of Healthcare Provider CPR class, cards will be mailed to the address provided and will be effective from the date of class for a period of two years.
- AAoC is registered under the Utah Postsecondary Proprietary School Act (Title 13, Chapter 34, Utah Code).
- AAoC registration under the Utah Postsecondary Proprietary School Act does not mean that the State of Utah supervises, recommends, nor accredits the institution. It is the CNA student’s responsibility to determine whether credits, degrees, or certificates from the institution will transfer to other institutions or meet employers’ training requirements. This may be done by calling the prospective school, employer or Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR).
- AAoC is not accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.
- AAoC will not guarantee placement, wage and/or salary level at the completion of Utah CNA Course or Healthcare Provider CPR course.

About Us
We take great care to provide you with the best Utah CNA educational experience possible. Our working experience is applied to the Utah CNA curriculum and detailed instruction that you will receive with us. Your success is our mission and we are dedicated to starting your Utah CNA career off right.
Our past graduation rate with this program is as follows: 92% passing rate on Utah CNA state licensure for written testing as well as 76% passing on skills testing. I will do my very best to help each CNA student to understand the information taught. Until the opening of An Act of Caring I have taught for companies in which Utah CNA students were currently employed and were able to maintain their employment after completing my course and state testing. I plan to follow up with each student to track passing rate and employment opportunities within three months of completing Utah CNA course.

Career Preparation
The curriculum presented by An Act of Caring will prepare you for the Utah State Certified Nurse Assistant certification test. After successful completion of the Utah State certification test you will be qualified to professionally work as a Utah CNA.
Through personalized attention and guidance, students will develop and refine the skills needed to work in the high paced medical field. Detailed classroom lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and clinical settings are all part of the inclusive education and training that you will receive through An Act of Caring’s Utah CNA Certification course.
Each student will graduate with 80 total combined hours of course instruction and clinical setting training.
